Swap Your Denim Jeans For Coated Leggings – Here’s How

Coated leggings are definitely a pant to consider adding to your winter wardrobe.

Since March, I have been looking for coated jeans to extend my winter outfits.

I often resort to denim jeans or black leggings when the temperature turns cool.

Many of us have embraced the soft pant for comfort over the last few months while isolating at home.

But I wanted to add something new which could work with all my knits and jackets this winter.

I love the look of a coated legging because it can work well at home with sneakers, a tee and cardi for a casual look.

Or it can be dressed up with a shirt, jacket and boots when going out. I like to have unlimited choices when I add a new basic to my wardrobe.

Tips when purchasing coated leggings/coated jeans

Check if there is stretch. This will determine if you purchase your current size or size up.

I usually go up a size because coated jeans are usually a skinny fit and I don’t want the waist band to be digging into my belly.

I also check the measurements for hip, waist and length.

I find any types of coated pants will sell out quite quickly in the larger sizes. So when they are available, I want to be confident with the fit so I don’t have to swap or risk not being able to swap because my correct size sold out.

Outfit ideas

Like your normal denim jeans, coated jeans are just as versatile. They can come as a jean style, legging or jegging. Here are some outfit ideas to inspire. Wear with:

  • Striped tee, white sneakers and cardi for a layered look
  • White blouse and high heels for a work or evening look
  • Block colour knit and black boots for a smart casual day or night look
  • White tee, denim jacket and sneakers for a casual day look
  • Tops that drape or do a tuck and drape look with a blouse to show off your shape.

For me, I always will wear a top that can drape around my hip area to camouflage my lower tum and possible camel toe.
