Why I added The Ordinary Serum and Oils to my Skincare Regime

This time last year, my face had so many breakouts I couldn’t keep up the concealer to hide them all.

I wasn’t sure if it was stress, my poor eating habits due to lockdown and homeschooling, not getting enough sleep, hormones or because I had swapped my skincare range to Australian made.

But as you do when faced with an unwanted effect from change, you start to work on eliminating each factor to work out the cause.

And so I focused on the most recent change of swapping to Australian made skincare, and reverted back to my favoured Trilogy. I now use Trilogy daily on my face but I’ve also added The Ordinary facial serum and oil to boost hydration.

It was recommended from a work colleague and I had tested the oil 6 months prior when we stayed a night in the city to head to our Christmas Party. While we were getting ready and talking about skin care, my colleague gifted me a bottle. Once it was used up, I didn’t replace it and instead used Sukin which didn’t agree with my skin.

Once I went back to Trilogy, I got serious about adding a serum and oil to my regime.

I’ve been using these products for the last year and have been really happy with my skin. I get the odd pimple when it’s that time of month, but my complexion has been smooth and hydrated.

To get ready each day, I only use some BB cream, a bit of concealer on the nose and under my eyes, mascara and lip gloss.

Having a smooth complexion makes applying makeup easy. I find I use less product on my face as a result. Adding the serum and oil into my daily routine has helped the surface and deeper layers of my complexion.

The two products I have swapped to in the past year are by The Ordinary. They’re affordable and available online or at Priceline.

My Skincare Routine + Serum and Oil I’m using in my Skincare Regime

After I cleanse my face and spritz with hydrating mist, I massage a drop of The Ordinary Hyaluronic Acid 2% +B5 serum all over my face. I allow this to sink into my skin and get dressed.

Once dressed, I lightly pat 2 drops of The Ordinary 100% Organic Cold Pressed Moroccan Argan Oil. I allow this to soak into my skin and then finish with my daily facial moisturizer.

The Hyaluronic Acid and B5 work together to penetrate the deep layers of the skin, and ensure hydration. The two ingredients work hand in hand for a moisture boost to the skin.

I introduced the Argan oil for extra hydration before my moisturizer. I also love to use it on the ends of my hair and those dry – out of sight areas like elbows and heels.

I’m by no means a skincare expert, but I do understand the time it can take to find the right products which will work with your skin. Affordability is also another factor.

If you’re looking to boost hydration to your complexion these winter months, why not give them a go? They are affordable and a small amount goes a long way.
