EMU Australia sent me a pair of their Platinum Collection Mintaro Slippers in Black and my feet have never been cosier!

With many of us spending winter at home, one way to add a bit of luxury to our everyday is by investing in a pair of handcrafted Australian made slippers. If worn everyday, you will want them to be superior in style and comfort.

Since receiving my slippers, my feet have been enveloped in the softest of sheepskin and the sturdy yet flexible outer sole has supported my feet while walking on our timber laminate floor.

Style of slippers is a personal choice

I’m a bit fussy with my slippers. I like a boot and they must have a rubber sole. I can no longer walk in slippers without a sole or a cushion bed with grips.

It feels too flimsy for me, and I have rolled my ankle in the past which has made me wary of these styles of slippers.

With the Mintaro slippers, my feet are well supported and the ankle opening makes the slippers easy to put on. I can adjust the sheepskin to sit up higher on my ankle, or folded as I prefer to wear them.

I do have a pair of shin height boot slippers but the edge rubs against my shin causing it to get aggravated.

It comes down to personal preference on the style of slippers you prefer to wear. Maybe the  knee boot style is your preferred. My husband loves the open ankle slide slipper. EMU Australia offer a variety of styles to suit your needs.

The Mintaro ankle boots are ideal for me. I chose the black slippers, in the hope they look less like slippers and more like boots.

Not that anyone is coming around anytime soon. And even if they were, I wouldn’t care. These slippers are not only luxurious to wear, they’re stylish.

All Shades of Green Fashion – Knitwear, Jackets and Scarves

If you’ve been online scrolling through fashion stores like I have during isolation, you may have noticed all shades of green fashion interwoven through your feed.

The shades have varied from emerald to khaki to teal and bottle green.

I recently added to cart this emerald green knit from a local boutique Petal and Pup. I loved the emerald green and also the layered sleeves. (now sold out)

Looking at green is said to calm and lift our spirits. It reminds us of nature and when many of us have been indoors for a while, it’s understandable why green is a trending colour.

In the way of fashion, all shades of green are available in knits, jackets, tops and scarves. It seems emerald is the favourite, but the sage, khaki and olive shades are certainly popular as well.

How to wear green this winter

If restrictions still remain over winter, we are going to be spending more time indoors. Why not invest in a green knit to wear with your dark denim jeans? Team it with black jeans or even black coated jeans.

Add a scarf with navy, grey or orange tones to compliment the green. Even blush pink looks delightful against a bottle green knit.

Have a leopard print scarf from a few years ago? Team that with your green knit.

Green tends to balance bright colours so if you’re keen to introduce colour to your wardrobe, green is a great place to start.

Comfortable and Casual Dress for Home

A comfortable and casual dress for home is the perfect outfit for me while working from home.

Have you noticed what clothes you’re reaching for during this time?

There is no right or wrong way to dress these days – as long as you’re comfortable.

For some, the pyjamas or soft pants and tee outfit are on high rotation.

Yet for others, jeans and a nice top may be the outfit of choice.

For myself, I’m reaching for my dresses.

In a way, my lifestyle hasn’t changed because I’ve always worked from home. The main difference is I haven’t had to walk the kids to school.

What I have noticed is I haven’t reached for pants. Which pieces in your wardrobe have you noticed you’re reaching for?

It’s still warm during the day in Brisbane, but the weather has turned this week and I know I will be reaching for longer sleeves and un-layering by mid morning.

I’ve intentionally worn bright dresses to keep my spirits high. The dresses have been easy to slip on in the morning and I’ve been able to interchange shoes from sneakers (when walking the girls around the block to get some exercise) to my masseur sandals when around the house.

My dresses have been shift-like in style and have pockets – usually for my phone which is always with me.

These style of dresses can be layered for winter with a knit and leggings underneath.

We may not be going anywhere, other than a walk around the block or grocery shopping,  yet dressing for the day can help our mental health.

I’ve been looking for ways to elevate my everyday style at home. If you’re been wearing pants and tops, this outfit idea could offer a changeup in your everyday uniform.

One Dress Three Ways – Pink Stripe Dress

One dress three ways – this was how I envisioned this dress when I added it to cart.

I knew it would work well with existing layers in my wardrobe.

I had had my eye on the Soul Mate Pink Stripe Dress from Little Party Dress for a while.

The style and colours were right up my alley.

I knew it was the kind of dress that could be worn to work and smart casually.

Here are three ways to wear this dress, using staple pieces you most likely have in your existing wardrobe. If you don’t have a pink jacket, a navy or blush blazer will certainly work with this dress.

Work Look

one dress three ways work look

Replace the tie waist belt with a leather belt. I have had this reversible orange belt for years. It elevates to a more corporate look. I also added the Styling You The Label Pink Kirsten Cape and wore Frankie 4 Riss Sandals in Black. If I was heading to the office for work, I’d wear this because of it’s corporate feel. It’s an outfit I can wear in the future now that I’m working from home.

Smart Look

one dress three ways smart look

Keep the belt in place but use the belt tie as a necktie. I could wear this to work as well or just generally for an evening out. None of which is happening right now… but hey, it’s good to have options.

Casual Look

one dress three ways casual look

For a casual look, layer with a denim jacket and swap the sandals with white sneakers. Thread the tie belt through the loops and tie at the waist. I added Neon Cherry heart earrings for a cute feature to the outfit. Perfect for a day at home when it’s cooler or heading out to run errands – of which won’t be a while due to COVID-19.

All Pieces Bright And Beautiful

Since embracing self-isolation for the past few weeks, I have done quite the scrolling online.

My thumb has certainly had quite the workout. Ha!

I don’t need any new clothes, yet I find it quite enjoyable to browse stores online to see what new arrivals have come in store.

My intention for this year to buy less but spend more has been going not too bad. I haven’t purchased much of anything new, apart from a red cocktail dress that is a style I had been looking for to add to my cocktail dress collection.

Right now, the clothes I’m being drawn to are all pieces bright and beautiful. Floral and geometric prints with a lot of colour.

Colour makes me happy and I think it can really lift your spirit. It lifts mine when I wear it.  I think we all need our spirits lifted at present.

Here are the pieces that have caught my attention while browsing online.

6. Minnie and Maxxie Brook Print Amas Maxi Dress $89.95

I would love to have one of everything. But my personal favourites are the Minnie and Maxxie dress. The long sleeves make it a great dress for autumn. It can be layered with a denim jacket for winter.

I also love the Bohemian Traders Blossom Nights print. It’s a print that will suit denim, black, white – so many neutrals. It’s certainly a print I’d love to own.

I’m yet to buy my kids’ new teacher a thank you present (haha!) so one of these beauties may be added to cart before Easter.

Have you done any online shopping while in isolation? Made any new fashion discoveries?
