Accessory Pops of Colour For Spring 2017 (All Under $50!)

I love wearing a pop of colour any time of the year, but I think adding some accessory pops of colour to your outfit/s is a great way to transition into dressing for spring.

While I love a bright accessory, I also love muted tones that work well with neutrals.

Right now, I’m loving wearing my tassel and pop pom earrings. Those pops of colour make me happy when I wear them.

I have an eyelash on my cheek. I refuse to believe that’s a wrinkle. LOL.

A lot of stores are bringing out new accessories for Spring/Summer 17/18. When it comes to accessories, I don’t usually follow trends, I just buy what I love and know I will wear time and time again.

Here are some accessories that have caught my eye in the last week or so while doing a bit of research online.

Spring Trend 2017: Boho Maxi Floral Dresses

I love boho style when it comes to interiors and fashion. I like the relaxed and colourful style with mixed patterns. I also like to pair it back with classics to create a modern boho looks. But one style of dress that has boho and 70’s influences that has come out for spring is the boho maxi floral dress.

I love these style of dresses as they have a flattering empire line and ¾ sleeves. I’m a fan of anything that skims over my tummy and covers my upper arms.
It’s the perfect trans-seasonal dress.

I recently went into Instyle Boutique to check out the new stock that had arrived and loved the print of this maxi dress. The pattern also comes in a shift dress if you prefer that style.

The reason I love the boho maxi floral dress is because the shape of the dress flatters and can skim over tummies and hips.

I love the ¾ sleeves for me personally as I’m not a fan of my upper arms and like to keep them covered.

The skirt of the dress can also be A-line which ensures it doesn’t billow.

When wearing a maxi dress that is flowy like this style, opt to wear a tan sandal or wedges. Open toe booties can also work.

If you really want to up the Boho anti, add a suede vest and a long necklace or tassel earrings.

I’ve found some online styles that are gorgeous. I really love the dress from Dotti.

7 Gingham Fashion Pieces I Love

Gingham seems to the be pattern trend for this season and I like it. I remember having a red gingham shirt when I was 17, so this trend is not new, and has revolved around 16 years later.

My red gingham shirt was one of my favourite shirts to wear with jeans or a denim skirt. If only I kept it and it would be in fashion again!

This season were are seeing more black and navy gingham pieces.

I’m always happy to jump on a few fashion trends, and gingham has been one of them. I purchased my first gingham shirt last week. Except my dad didn’t like it. He made sure I knew about it on Facebook.

Here are 7 of my favourite gingham fashion pieces. Can you guess which one I may have added to my cart while putting this post together?

1. H & M Gingham Cotton Shirt $24.99 (as pictured on me above, I’m wearing a 14)

2. City Chic Off The Shoulder Gingham Top $79.95 (I’m an XS at City Chic)

My Three Favourite Fashion Boutique Stores in Brisbane (Who Also Have an Online Store)

When I want to buy some new clothes, there are three fashion boutique stores in Brisbane I usually head to. These stores not only have a bricks and mortar store which I enjoy visiting when I can, they also have an online store. I’ve loved purchasing from these stores and I’m always on the look out for new styles that are stocked in the stores.

What I love about these fashion boutiques is they offer value for money and great service. It also helps that they are on the southside of Brisbane. Sometimes I want to go into the store to see how a garment will fit before I purchase.

If you live in Brisbane, make sure these three stores are on your radar. These boutiques have a gorgeous interior, so it’s a lovely shopping experience when you head there.

Stylefast

I have bought a few dresses from Stylefast in the past when they were just an online store. I assumed it was an online store run down south, but in actual fact, it is based in Brisbane and the boutique in Camp Hill is gorgeous to visit. You can have a great morning buying clothes and getting a coffee at one of the café’s in the street. I bought my favourite Elm dress from here. If you’re in need of a special outfit or something new that’s unique, head to this store. You can shop online here.

I bought this Elm dress from the Stylefast boutique last Christmas.

Instyle Boutique

I have shopped at Instyle Boutique since Esther was little and Maggie was a newborn. They used to have a store at my local Forest Lake Shopping centre. But now my closest store is at Garden City. Every time I go in here, I never leave without making a purchase! Instyle Boutique now have an online store. My most recent purchase was this embroidered top. One of my favourite dresses, which I wore to Phoebe’s 1st Birthday party, was bought from the Forest Lake store.

Wardrobe 22

I love everything Wardrobe 22 brings in. I haven’t bought anything online, but prefer to go to the store in Salisbury to try things on. I always find it hard to limit my spending there because I want one of everything. Karen introduced me to the amazing Miracle dress and Tube Skirt. Wardrobe 22 also offers an online store so you can shop from home if you don’t live near the store.

All three of these boutiques will sometimes stock the same pieces. So if you find one store has sold out in your size, call them to see if they will get more in stock, but if they aren’t, check one of these stores to see if they stock it.

Getting Ready for Summer 2018 – A Mental List of Things I Need

This post was sponsored by Flarecom Digital Marketing

It’s usually about this time of year I start to look forward to wearing my summer clothes again. The weather starts to get warmer and I’m usually sick of layering and yearn for the days of chucking a dress on and being done with my outfit.

It was only as I walked past a pharmacy I thought about all the things I need to get to get ready for summer. Not sure why I had that thought when I walked past, but possibly because I remembered I needed to get another pump pack of sunscreen as we are currently using our spray one which will soon run out. So I thought I’d share a mental checklist of things I need to get so we’re ready for summer. Maybe this list might help you since it seems the warmer temperatures have arrived in a little earlier than expected.

My mental check list of things I need to get to be ready for summer 2018

1. Sunscreen.

We go through a lot of sunscreen in our house. With four bodies to lather before we head to school/kindy/daycare, our pump pack sunscreen from Sunsense is nearly out. I usually buy a pump pack for at home and a spray or smaller bottle to keep in the beach bag. It’s always a good idea to look at the use-by-date on your sunscreen and research brands so you know the product you’re getting will protect you from the sun.

2. Thongs/Flip Flops

I have worn my red Havianas since pre-kids – so I’m guessing they may be a decade old. Since having my kids, my feet are a size and a half bigger. I’ve persevered with my current Havianna’s because I generally only wear them when we got to the beach or on holidays. But every time I wear them, I make a mental note of replacing them. I will be replacing them this summer. The Iconic has some great styles in, ready for summer.

3. Sun Hat

One of my kids put a hole in my sun hat which is frustrating! But it’s what happens when kids get inquisitive – especially with straw. I’m thinking about getting a wide brim hat for maximum protection. Harper’s Bazaar have a fabulous selection of wide brim hats to consider. (I might put together a post myself on this)

4. Net Bag

I want a net bag for all the beach toys like buckets and spades and frisbies and balls that my girls love to play with at the beach. It always feels like we are carrying a myriad of things to the beach for our family, but what I love about this net bag is it expands to carry all the buckets and spades and the net allows the sand to fall through. We seem to take the beach with us in our current plastic bag. I’m not the only that sees the benefit of one of these bags for the family. Elle says it’s the ‘fashion industry’s latest obsession.’

So far, that’s my checklist of needs for summer for myself. Now I need to do the rest of the family. I’m sure my list will grow before summer does officially arrived. But at least I will be prepared when it’s time to hit the beach.

Are you ready for Summer 2018? What season is your favourite?
