I Got a New Stud Earring Holder

If you’ve been reading this blog for a while, you will know I LOVE wearing statement earrings.

If they have pom poms, tassels or a mixture of both, I will wear them. I also enjoy wearing stud earrings too and have quite the collection of those. In fact, the collection was starting to annoy me because I didn’t have anywhere for them to go, and I really wanted something that would allow me to hang them up off our dresser.

So I went onto Etsy and found these fabulous stud earring holder storage boards. I purchased one last week and it came in the mail yesterday.

Bon Maxie have created a number of these holders which come with the board and easel. You can also purchase a hanging one if you prefer this style.

This was my dresser before. It was messy and a bit of an eyesore to look at and needed a dust.

And this is what it looks like now.

This particular stud earring holder was $39.

I love that I can now see what stud earrings I have. I can also hang the dangling ones that are attached with a stud, not a hook. I need to go through my other jewellery organisers and add these studs onto the holder. I find, if my earrings are hidden away, I don’t always wear them and I may even forget I have them. This stud holder makes it easy to see what I have and what will go with my outfit.

You can hook your earrings into this as well, but I already had my other jewellery holder for my hook earrings.

You can purchase the same holder here.

Do you need a stud earring holder as well? How do you organise your earrings?

Planter Baskets Are a Stylish Way To House Your Plants Indoors

One of the most affordable ways to house your plants indoors is using planter baskets. Truth be known, all baskets can be turned into a planter basket. You just have to find the right size to accommodate the size of your pot.

I’ve used pom pom baskets to house my plants indoors and they have been a stylish way to cover over the black pot. It’s also saved having to transfer the plant into another pot.

Tips For Using Planter Baskets Indoors

Having used two baskets to decorate my plants, there are some things to consider.

1. Make sure your basket has a wide enough opening to fit your pot. Some baskets taper up and this can make it hard to get a larger plant pot into the basket.

2. Always put a pot saucer in the basket first and then place your plant pot in. The saucer will catch the water when you water your plant, preventing the basket to go mouldy underneath due to moisture.

3. Don’t over water your plant and cause the saucer to overflow as your basket will go mouldy (learned this from past experience)

4. If you are worried about mould, choose plastic plants instead.

5. There are so many varieties and styles of baskets to choose from. Seagrass and wicker are the main options. Consider a neutral basket to blend in with the interior of your home.

Here are some baskets I found online and what they look like when housing a plant.

Cushion Combinations for Winter Interiors 2018

The winter interior trends for 2018 have been interesting to watch develop as designers incorporate the current colours and textural trends into their designs. I’m not loving all of it, but there are some things I do love and have in my home because I like those colours anyway (looking at you jewel tones).

As we know, interior trends can come and go, and what may be in now, will be out in the future. But nevertheless, if the current trends are right up your alley and you’re currently looking for ways to update your living room, this post is for you.

With any living space, there are the walls, furniture, windows, lighting, textiles and home decor to consider to bring the whole room together.

In today’s post, I’m sharing cushion combos that would work on a sofa, to incorporate the current trends into your living room or bedroom, without changing anything major in the room.

Neutral furniture (black, tan, white, beige, grey) always pares itself well to colourful and textural cushions. So I’m assuming you have this to pull off these cushion combinations.

Here are some of the trends for winter interiors 2018.

1. Sage green, rust, terracotta, plum and millinneal pink tones with macramé textures and abstract geometrics.

2. Macramé cushions in black, cream and grey.

3. Jewel tones, faux fur throws and velvet sofas and cushions.

4. All shades of green, botanical prints and fur rugs.

5. Metallic shades of copper, gold, rust and bronze velvet cushions pared back with grey.

If you want to give your lounge a spruce up, then these cushion combos will do the trick taking some inspiration from the above trends using the same shades and textures.

Stylish Round Cushions – How to Decorate With Round Cushions

I went through a phase of wanting round cushions in my home. I liked the different shape and I was drawn to the bohemian patterns that would often be embroidered or printed on the cover.

I own two round cushions. The first one was purchase from Hard to Find and the second was purchased from Pillow Talk.

I layer my round cushions against my square cushions for a balanced look. I don’t know the ins and outs of styling cushions on a chair or lounge. Generally I trust my eye. One of my favourite corners in our house is this one.

I love how the portrait of our much loved Bentley matches with the faux leather cushion purchased a few months ago from Kmart. The round cushion was purchased from Pillow Talk.

Generally, I layer my round cushions against a square 45cm x 45cm cushion. I’ve only ever placed them on occasional chairs or in the corner of a sofa.

Here are some ways round cushions have been used to style bedrooms and living rooms.

Add Spring to Your Interiors With Leaf Print Cushions

Last spring, I updated our outdoor area with some leaf print cushions. I think I sourced them on ebay as they were the teal green, rather than the dark green.

With the arrival of spring, leaf print cushions are infiltrating homeware stores. The print itself is also being used in fashion as well. The print was popular this time last year and its still making its debut this season.  I just love how this pattern brings the outdoors in, and Spring is the perfect time to invest in a leaf print cushion or two.

If you are thinking of adding some leaf print cushions to your interiors – or outeriors, think about placing the cushions with black and white or a neutral back ground. The contrast can look fresh and inviting.

Add different patterns to create a pattern clash. The rule of thumb when creating a pattern clash is to have a common colour in each of the cushions.

For my outdoor area, I’ve gone a complete pattern clash, incorporating black and white stripes and a bohemian style print and of course chevron. This was what our outdoor area looked like this time last year.

And this is what it looks like now.

There has been a bit of fading.

It’s important when choosing outdoor cushions, they are UV protected. This helps them retain their colours when exposed to the outdoors.

Here are some of my favourite leaf print cushions online.
