One of the most versatile dresses in my wardrobe for winter would be my long sleeved black and white stripe dress which I got for $50 on sale from City Chic last winter… or maybe it was the winter before that?
It’s proven to be a great base outfit to layer for winter. When you have a stripe base, you can layer your scarves any which way. I like to layer my black and white stripe dress with a scarf, jacket or vest. To keep my legs warm I wear black leggings (this winter they are from Target) and my favourite Jo Mercer boots.
I had a few queries about where my stripe dress was purchased from and unfortunately the style is no longer available from some of the stores that used to stock a similar style.
However, I have been able to source the same print in a few different styles if you are after this type of dress for winter.
My personal favourite is the Miracle dress because it is a flattering fit. The Daisy Street Jumper dress from ASOS is a bit too short for my liking (but it may be an option if you like the style) – and only available in a 14 and 16. I’d definitely be wearing tights under that dress.
You can follow my lead and wear your stripe dress with a leopard print scarf.
Or you can layer with a leather jacket, and add a bit of colour or a different patterned scarf for a pattern clash.
Contrary to what has often been thought, a stripe dress is flattering. Here are three dresses I’ve found online with the similar black and white stripe pattern.
ASOS Daisy Street Jumper in Stripe $28.50 (on sale)
Miracle Dress in Neutral Stripe from White Haven Emporium $74.95
Hi Low Midi Dress in Black and White from Birdsnest $89.95
Do you have a black and white stripe dress? What’s your favourite way to layer during Winter?
