The Spring Summer 2020 Fashion Trends are a repeat of patterns and styles we’ve seen before.
You may already have a few of these in your wardrobe from past seasons.
There are some styles I will embrace and others I will disregard as they won’t work with my fuller figure.
It’s been the year for emotional eating for me and as a result, I am rounder.
I’ve created a wardrobe for myself where if my weight fluctuates, my clothes will still fit.
But I also enjoy adding a seasonal trend to work with my existing pieces.
Nobody should be waking in the morning and not knowing what they’re going to wear because nothing fits or suits anymore. If you’ve gained or lost weight this year, love yourself enough to create a wardrobe which flatters your body.
If you need help, a stylist will certainly assist you.
We need to get over the number on the tag and not let it define us.
And trends come and go. It’s fun to see what is ‘current’ to refresh your wardrobe for a new season but you may already own a few which can be reworked this summer. So don’t feel the pressure to spend.
With that said, here are the spring summer fashion trends for 2020 you might like to check out.
Tiered Swing Dresses
This style of dress has been around since last summer. It’s a great piece to invest in if you want a dress which can be worn with sneakers or sandals. They are a popular style of dress because the swing flatters most shapes. It’s an ideal style if you carry weight on your tummy (ME!).
Tie Dye
Tie Dye is back in and best of all you can actually make this yourself with a white t-shirt for little cost. Alternatively, these pieces make tie dye a trend I might consider…
Puffed Sleeves
Puffed sleeves are a feminine look which can balance out wider hips. Dresses or tops with puffed sleeves are definitely pieces to add to your summer 2020 wardrobe. Wear tops tucked into shorts for a slimline look.
I personally think dresses with puffed sleeves are the sweetest way to wear this trend.
Gingham
Gingham is a classic print which will always cycle through the seasons. Black and white is always a common colourway, but why not embrace other hues as a new take on this print.
Shirring
Love it or hate it, shirring is in this season. The key to pulling off this trend without feeling like a sausage is to buy a dress where the top bodice is shirred and finishes at the bust line or waist with a draped skirt. If you’re still not keen, opt for a top with shirring details.
Linen
Linen is another love hate trend.
It looks sophisticated and it’s breathable, making it the perfect choice to wear in summer.
BUT it creases like crazy. For some, the creases are part of the look.
Linen shirts and swing tops are ideal when worn with denim shorts or white pants for a smart casual look.
Wide Leg pants and Culottes
Wide leg pants and culottes are great for summer paired with a slimmer top for balance.
I love the wide leg pants at Gorman as their fun prints scream summer. Wide leg pants are versatile as they can be worn everyday or dressed up for work. And even if most of us are still working from home, it’s always a backup for when we need to head into the office for a meeting.
Overalls and Jumpsuits
An easy way to get more wear out of your tees and tops is to layer with overalls. Jumpsuits are also trending and are a great alternative to a dress when going out.
Which spring summer 2020 fashion trends will you be adding to your wardrobe this year?
