There are many tips to style a house into a home. One of the easiest is to style your home with personal memories.
This doesn’t mean displaying photos in every nook and cranny. (Although, if you love this look, go for it.)
There are clever ways to integrate candid travel memories and personal portraits to create a home which feels authentically you.
If anything, this year has been a reminder to focus on what is important and cherish times when life was less stressful.
I’ve never looked at a photo album and not felt grateful for the memories created. So why don’t we have them on display?
If you’re after some modern ways to style your home with personal memories, take some inspiration from MyPicture.com.au.
Turn that landscape image into a work of art
My husband will always take a ‘winning’ landscape shot of a lake, mountain, tree or whatever environment we find ourselves enjoying.
Why not turn this picture into a work of art and print it on a canvas? Not only will you admire it in your home and remember a place you visited, the canvas will be personal to you.
Design an asymmetrical gallery wall
Gallery walls have been around for a while and they are a marvelous way to display a number of different memories on the one wall.
There are so many different ways to create a gallery wall. Most tend to be a balanced, symmetrical look. Change it up and create an asymmetrical gallery wall.
Create canvas prints in different sizes and orientations and display your gallery wall at the entrance or behind a console cabinet.
Create a story wall
Like the gallery wall, a story wall will share a moment in time to be cherished.
It could be about romance or a series of photos capturing the steps to finish a trek. You can feel the love and triumph in a story wall. It’s a beautiful way to personalise a wall in your home.
Display your own portrait
This may not be for everybody, but why not turn a head shot into your own personalised, portrait? Change the background to a bright colour for a bold look.
Alternatively, if you’re not keen to have your mug on display, get a photo taken with your back to the camera. This image is effective and can be replicated facing the beach with a surfboard in hand or looking down from a mountain view.
Have you tried any of these to style your home with personal memories?
