Where to Buy Faux Fur Leopard Print Jackets

I’ve shared quite a bit of leopard print on the blog and it doesn’t seem to be waning as Faux Fur Leopard Jackets have been a popular piece to acquire.

Ever seen someone wear something you love at first sight? You research the net to find one just like it, only to find the one you love wasn’t in your price range, or it had sold out?

I loved the look of Nikki’s (from Styling You) faux fur leopard print jacket and went to find one similar… only to find it was out of my price range and sold out in my size.

So I went on the hunt to find one.

I may wear it once per winter but I do have an up and coming New Zealand trip. It may come in handy on that trip.

I thought I’d compile all my research into a blog post with listed sizes available.

A leopard print faux fur coat is a stand out piece that can be an added layer on a variety of outfits. I’m going to team mine with a black dress and black pleather skirt. Watch this space for how I style my jacket when I get it for my Birthday. 

Where to Buy Formal Dresses for Black Tie Events

From July to the end of the year is the season for awards nights and events requiring black tie attire. I recently had a question about where to buy formal dresses for black tie events, and in effect, this post will share my answer.

Tips on Choosing a Formal Dress for a Black Tie Event

When choosing a formal dress for a black tie event, the gown is generally floor length. It’s important to choose a dress that you can sit, stand and dance in comfortably. If the dress is too tight or too loose, you will feel self-conscious all night.

If you attend a few black tie events each year, it can cost a fortune buying a new dress for every event. Glam Corner offers a formal dress hiring service. Alternatively, choose a dress in a classic neutral colour like black, navy or even blush and change the accessories to create different looks.

Winterising Your Formal Dress

For formal events in winter, add a faux fur wrap to keep shoulders warm. A cropped jacket can also work. Forever New and Alannah Hill have some gorgeous faux fur wraps that will work with any of the dresses below.

Formal Dresses to Consider

I’ve found some gorgeous styles currently online, which can be accessorized and worn again and again. My go-to is always black or navy, but a block colour option works well too.

My Favourite Accessory Picks From Neon Cherry

Neon Cherry is the fashion and accessory label by Jenni from Styling Curvy. Earlier this year she launched an accessory range and I’ve been like a duck to water at the site. I’ve loved perusing through the scarves and statement earrings because these are my favourite accessories to collect.

I always enjoy watching Jenni’s videos on Facebook as she shares what she’s about to launch onto her site. (Right now there are limited pieces of her clothing, which she has designed and is made in Australia.)

The green border leopard scarf had my name on it the moment she shared about them. I waited patiently for them to be available online and I added another pair of earrings to cart.

I find the accessories are affordable, well made and can add that bit of bling or pizzazz to a plain outfit.

My first purchase were the large XO earrings in black. Unfortunately, no one can tell I’m wearing them because of my dark hair. So I invested in the black and white leopard print earrings and I have been wearing them nearly everyday.

There are plenty of places you can go to get accessories these days, but supporting a local business is always a great option. I know the effort it takes to make your own accessories and sell them. It’s not easy and can be hard to compete with stores that offer imports which, for me haven’t lasted the distance than my handmade earrings.

While Jenni doesn’t make her earrings, she does source some of the ones I’ve picked out below from another small business who make their earrings in South Australia.

I thought I’d share some of my favourite accessory picks from Neon Cherry which are currently available.

Where do you go to get your statement earrings and fun accessories? Have you bought anything from Neon Cherry? I’d love to know what you’ve bought.

Styling a Black Pleather Skirt Two Ways

I’m pretty stocked in the staple department in my wardrobe. I try to keep a good inventory of basic pieces I can wear with my show off tops and knits. But one staple I’ve always wanted to add to my wardrobe was a black pleather skirt.

I’m calling it a staple because of its versatility. In fact it’s the skirt which can transform a top or knit into a smart going out outfit, can be worn to work with a blazer or paired back for the weekend with a tee and sneakers. It’s a staple that can be worn a multitude of ways.

For me, I love the Styling You The Label Lisa Pleather Ponte Skirt (SYTL) because I can wear it with one of the many knits I own when I head to church. I’ve never felt comfortable wearing jeans to church. Night church yes, day church… I wear a dress or a skirt and top. I have no issue with anyone wearing jeans to church. But for me, it’s something ingrained from my childhood to ‘wear a dress to church’. I’m a bit of a contradiction though, because a denim jacket is fine, but jeans… they’re my midweek uniform and I prefer to keep them that way.

A black pleather skirt is an ideal piece to own and wear during the cooler months. You can see here how I’ve worn it with a knit, some leggings and a boot.

I also love how I can team the pleather skirt back casually with a striped tee and sneakers.

This pleather skirt from SYTL was a ‘I must have’ when I saw the second drop from the label.

I was worried whether the skirt would hug me a bit too snuggly and show off my panty line.

But it doesn’t. The ponte back of the skirt and elasticized waist makes for a great fit. It probably shows off my lower belly (anything fitting always does), but the knit or overhanging top hides this area of my body I like to conceal.

I am usually a 14-16 on my lower half, but I chose the 14 in this skirt and really happy I did. The size 16 would have been a bit too big.

I’ve worn the skirt three times since I’ve got it and I look forward to wearing it again.

If you’ve been looking for a staple to elevate your winter outfits, give this black pleather skirt a go.

Styling a Black Pleather Skirt – Outfit Ideas

  • Team your skirt with a coloured or patterned knit
  • Wear with a striped tee, denim jacket and sneakers
  • Pair it with a white shirt and blazer for work
  •  Wear with an off the shoulder long sleeved top/knit and some heels for a night out
  • Layer with a longline cardi and neck tie scarf and ankle boots
  • Texture it up with a fur jacket and heels to a wedding
  • Pair with a lace blouse and ballet flats or heels for a high tea

If you want to buy your own skirt, SYTL will give you 10% off your first purchase when you sign up to their newsletter. But this offer ends on the 12th of June. (Scroll down to the bottom of this page and subscribe to join the community and get your code.)

You can follow me on Instagram to see how I will wear mine next.
